I had the (Not-so-) Brainwave of asking the technical experts in the Rutland Cycling store if they could explain the instructions or help me in any way.

Unfortunately, not being a technical wizard, I could not fathom how to unlock the body of the scooter and the children were getting fractious as we were running out of time. I had been struggling in the car park to erect 2 children's scooters, which I had given them for Christmas and they were very excited to have a go. I have used the Peterborough (Ferry Meadows) branch very frequently to hire cycles and had a very positive attitude about the chain when I entered the Grafham branch. And perhaps that was why I received such an unfriendly service when I visited immediately before Christmas. I hesitate to write this because it doesn't concern the hiring of cycles of other purchase. Really pleased with the bike after only a couple of kick spins out. Really cannot fault that for customer service. They kept the bike shop hypocritic oath and didn’t mention the cost of the bike in front of the wife! They made some final adjustments and discussed the set up and changes between my old bike and new one. I was busy most of the day and didn't get there until 30 mins before closing, with my wife and kids, but they still spent time giving me a test ride. The bike was due to be made up the following Sunday ready for pick up on the Tuesday but got an e-mail and call from Robin to say they were able to make it up earlier if I wanted to collect it on the Sunday. It was only a week later that I placed the order and paid deposits.
The following week I went back and tried a couple of bikes in different sizes after narrowing down my choices. I'm no expert on bikes but didn't feel that they were trying to bamboozle me with jargon and sales patter. ************ (12 stars it was that good) Called in when I was passing a couple of weeks ago and was just browsing but Robin was willing to spend time talking about the bikes and discussing what I probably needed along with excellent advice on the different bikes available.
